Understanding living reaction spaces.
Advancing photosynthesis.
Our work on pyrenoid formation and inheritance, the regulation of photosynthesis, and algal bioproduction is supported by KAKENHI grants, JST research programs, and research foundations.
Current KAKENHI grants | Principal investigator
Projects led by Takashi Yamano.
Challenging Research (Exploratory)
Establishing the Study of Liquid-Phase Organelle Co-evolution
We use AI to uncover relationships between molecular sequences and phase separation, and design and test artificial reaction spaces. By creating these spaces, we investigate how organelles and their environment influence one another.
Scientific Research (B)
Molecular Basis of Aquatic Photosynthesis Regulation by Algal CO2-Concentrating Organelles
We investigate the formation and function of the phase-separated pyrenoid organelle to elucidate the molecular mechanisms that regulate photosynthesis in response to environmental CO2 fluctuations.
External funding and collaborative programs
Collaborative research and technology development supported by JST programs.
LOTUS Programme
Modifying Autophagy in Green Algae and Understanding Its Role in Lipid Biosynthesis
A Japan–India collaborative project with Subramanyam Rajagopal, the lead implementer at the University of Hyderabad. The period shows the years listed in the public researcher record.
